Dr. Berthelsen is originally from the Midwest and was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended Union College in Lincoln where he received a bachelor's degree in chemistry with emphasis in biochemistry. During his undergraduate studies, he shadowed many podiatric physicians in the community. After these experiences, he knew that he wanted to become a foot and ankle specialist.

After finishing undergraduate studies, Dr. Berthelsen attended Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated with his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 2012 and was also inducted into the Pi Delta Podiatric Honor Society for his academic excellence.

Dr. Berthelsen completed his 3 year surgical residency training in Loma Linda, CA at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center in 2015. He received comprehensive training on diagnosing and treating all types of foot and ankle ailments. His residency involved extensive surgical training in foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, and limb salvage. He also learned many techniques in advanced wound care and synthetic skin substitute grafting. He is dedicated to patient care and prepared to meet all your foot & ankle needs.
